ORLANDO CHESS AND GAMES CENTER
The Orlando Chess and Games Center (OCG) was founded in 2002 by FIDE Master Alex Zelner. Since that time, it has grown to become an active chess center where people of all ages and skill levels come to learn, practice, and compete in the great game of chess.
OCG OFFERS VARIOUS USCF TOURNAMENT FORMATS
& CHESS COACHING OPTIONS!
Orlando Chess & Games Center has been a USCF affiliate since 2002; we have completed over 383 USCF-rated events in our 14-year history as a tournament and training facility in direct support of competitive chess in Orlando.
USCF Scholastic Tournament
OCG's 1-day scholastic tournaments are for players aged 18 & under and consist of 5SS G/30;d5 rated games that are scheduled once a month on Saturdays.
At scholastic tournaments, we award trophies and/or medals to players who place, and participation medals for all players who did not place in the tournament.
USCF Open Quick
Our USCF-rated Quick Open Tournaments are usually formatted as 5SS G/24 d5. Both scholastic and adult players are welcome to participate in the Swiss system competition.
The typical time control is 24 minutes with 5 second delay per game. There are no trophies or medals awarded to the players. We award up to $650 based on number of participants.
Local Chess Coaching
The Orlando Chess & Games Center (OCG) has been providing 1-on-1 and school classroom chess coaching in the Orlando area since 2002.
FIDE Master Alex Zelner and National Tournament Director Steven Vigil have coached countless competitive chess players over the years on the fundamentals necessary to improve their competitive play, regardless of their current ELO/online rating.
National Online Coaching
Online coaching by GM Alex Goldin, who resides in Chicago, IL., is available to high level competitive chess players who are striving to compete at the top levels of chess.
Don't have a chess club at your school? We can help you establish a chess program at your school in a matter of weeks. We already have a number of schools that utilize our chess coaching staff to operate a meaningful chess program at area schools.
Time slots are limited due to the shortage of qualified chess coaches that are equally good at working with young players. If you have an interest, please contact us. Thank you for supporting chess in your area!
