Andrew Green and Toby Boas Win March Tornado

The OCG March Tornado was held this past Saturday, March 15th. Ten players competed in the 5-round, USCF rated event. Congratulations to Andrew Green (1829) and Toby Boas (1916), who both finished with a score of 4.0 to tie for first place.
Toby and Andrew faced off in the second round in what was a very interesting game. Andrew Green pulled off a comeback win, with a bizarre King walk to trap Toby's rook.
While Toby won his remaining three games, Andrew could not hold off expert Chuck Hall (2019) in the final round.
Chuck and, up and coming, 7 year-old, Samuel Sevian (1574) both finished with 3.5 points and a share of third place. Ironically, the players drew an exciting game in the first round. Sam played like a savy veteran fighting off Chuck in an endgame in which he was down a pawn. We are sad to report that young Sam will be moving to Los Angeles, CA next week. OCG would like to wish Samuel and his family the best in their move, and continued success in chess.
Congratulation to Katie Stewart (933) who won first place U-1400 with a score of 1.5 points.
