Yevgeniy Postrekhin Wins First OCG Tornado

The first Tornado at Orlando Chess and Games was held this past Saturday October 6th. Fifteen players competed in the event that had five rounds with a 60 minute time control.
Congratulations to Yevgeniy Postrehkin (2024) who finished with four points to win the inaugural event. In the final round Yevgeniy defeated Lucas van Beuzekom (1947) in a wild, tactical endgame. The technical win proved to be the decisive one, but Yevgeniy also scored tough wins against Wayne Strickland ((1767), last month's OCG OPEN winner Dalton Perrine(1972) and a draw against fellow expert, Chuck Hall (3.0).
Both Lucas van Beuzekom and Todd Durham (1774) had solid tournaments. They tied for second/third place with a final result of 3.5 points. We congratulate them both.
Yuri Fondora won the U1600 prize with a score of 3 points.
Carl Scarpati (1272) and Grant Luckey (1206) shared the 1400 prize with a score of 2.5 points.
Samueal Leavitt (1094) won clear first U1200 with a score of 1.5.
