Francisco Guadalupe win April OCG Open

Date: 04/10/04

The April Orlando Chess and Games Open took place this past Saturday, April 10th. Sixteen players competed in the 4 round USCF rated event. Although the tournament was not that big, there were some great players in attendance. OCG was proud to have four experts present for the event: David Jacobs (2080), Charles Hall (2057), Francisco Guadalupe (2031), and last months winer James Caccamise (2002). This provided many intriguing and exciting battles, as these four players, along with the rest of the field, duked it out over the checked board.

Congratulations to Fransisco Guadalupe who scored a perfect four points to take home the first place purse of $90. Fransisco defeated top rated player David Jacobs in a final round match to determine first place. It was a great game that featured an exciting back and forth battle.

Chuck Hall was the only other undefeated player. He finished with 3 points after scoring draws with David Jacobs and Jim Caccamise in the last two rounds. This gave him a tie for second place with Gregory Zelner (1697), whose only defeat came at the hands of Hall.

David Arp (1698), whose only loss was to Fransisco Guadalupe was the clear winner of the U1800 prize with 2.5 points.

Josh Zelner (1587) won the U1600 prize with 2 points.

Christopher Wideman (1381) won the U1400 prize with 2 points.

The U1200 prize was shared by three young players who all scored 1.5 points: Nicholas Wideman (1080), Ricardo Iudice (949) and Kaitlyn Rader (851).
